Newsletter - June 2026

If you're like most sole traders who tell themselves they'll "sort out the admin later," this is your sign to get started. Weโ€™ve put together a quick, stress-free checklist to help you get on top of things so you can head into July with total peace of mind (or at least a little bit less stress).

Here's what's inside this June edition:

  • Get EOFY-ready in 5 steps: How to get organised, even if you haven't kept the best records

  • ICYMI: Check out our guide to sole trader tax and our deep dive into superannuation with accountant Lauren Thiel

  • For Victorian sole traders: How to get 20% off your rego

๐Ÿ’กGet EOFY-ready in 5 steps

1. Gather your income and expenses

If you haven't logged business income and expenses throughout the year (or think you may have some gaps), your bank and credit card statements are your ultimate source of truth.

Dedicate an hour to downloading every statement for FY 25-26 and go through them line by line, highlighting every business-related transaction.

Not 100% sure what counts as a deduction?

Speak to an accountant. You can also visit our tax guide to get a general idea of what expenses you might be able to claim.

If you're a Rounded user:

Your expenses are probably mostly up to date already. If not, spend a few minutes this week in your Bank Feed. Auto suggestions and bulk categorisation will help speed things up.

Auto suggestions save time when reconciling expenses

2. Start tracking down any missing receipts

Find all your digital receipts, snap photos of the paper ones, and get them all in one place.

Apps like Rounded make it easy to upload and attach them directly to your expenses, so they're right there when your accountant (or the ATO) needs them.

3. Follow up on overdue invoices

Not only does this improve your cash flow before EOFY, but it also gives you a clearer picture of what you've actually earned this financial year so you don't underestimate your tax bill.

A quick reminder today could mean extra money in your account before June 30th.

4. Work out how much tax you might owe now

One of the most stressful parts of EOFY is discovering your tax bill is a lot larger than you were planning for.

Getting even a rough idea now means you have extra time to set some money aside and adjust cash flow plans as needed.

Rounded users can see real-time estimates of their taxable income and how much they'll owe the ATO on their dashboard.

5. Book in with your accountant ASAP

If you use an accountant, don't wait until July to get in touch.

EOFY is their busiest time, and appointment slots get snatched up quickly.

Even if your books aren't completely ready yet, having a date locked in can be the motivation you need to get organised.
